APPOINTMENT OF VICE-CHAIRMAN
To confirm the appointment of Mr F G R Lambert as Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the remainder of the current Council year.
2.
MINUTES
To confirm the Minutes of the Meeting of the final Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee held on 20th November 2001 (to be laid on the table half an hour before the meeting).
3.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE AND SUBSTITUTIONS
To receive apologies for absence and to report any substitutions.
4.
DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY AND OTHER INTERESTS
To receive from Members, in relation to any items included on the agenda for this meeting, disclosure of any pecuniary interests which are required to be disclosed by Section 94(1) of the Local Government Act 1972; and any personal non-pecuniary interests in such matters, in accordance with paragraph 10 of the National Code of Local Government Conduct.

Four members of this Committee (named) have since requested that they would like to scrutinise the decision(s) taken at that meeting.

OVERVIEW ISSUES
5.
RESPONSE TO SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL'S COUNTRYSIDE STRATEGY REVIEW: A "CONSULTATION PAPER ON THE ISSUES FACING RURAL SURREY FROM 2001 TO 2006"
[Wards Affected: All Rural Wards]
Surrey County Council has asked for comment on its Countryside Strategy Review document "A Consultation Paper on the Issues Facing Rural Surrey from 2001 to 2006". The report at
Appendix A
considers the issues identified and recommends that the Strategy addresses three further issues. There are no direct resource, human rights, "Opportunities for All" or community safety implications. The environmental implications are set out in the report.
Kath Harrison, Countryside Strategy Co-ordinator from Surrey County Council, will be present at the meeting to provide background information to the report and be available to answer any questions from members. In addition, all rural parish councils in Waverley have been invited to send a representative along to the meeting as an opportunity to present their views on how Surrey's overall Countryside Strategy could reflect and respond to issues in rural Waverley.
Recommendation
The Committee is invited to pass any observations or comments on the three additional issues to be included in the strategy, to the Executive.

To agree the work programme, which includes details of all three Overview and Scrutiny Committees, attached at

QUESTIONS BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
The Chairman to respond to any questions received from members of the public of which notice has been duly given in accordance with Procedure Rule 10.
