Summary and purpose:
This report seeks approval for a five-year lease to be entered into with National Westminster Bank for the lease of 26 car parking spaces, as shown outlined on the plan annexed.

Environmental implications:
Car parking is at a premium in Farnham. The retention of these spaces will assist in mitigating queuing for places.
Social / community implications:
The provision of these car parking spaces will assist retailing in the centre of Farnham.

There are no e-government implications in this report.
Resource and legal implications:
While the rent has increased, Waverley’s overall costs will still be covered by the car parking income obtained. Waverley will bear its own legal costs in this matter.

Background
1. The current lease held by National Westminster Bank, which was for a period of 15 years, expired on 22 February 2001. Waverley is holding-over the lease on the same terms as the existing. The landlord requires Waverley to enter into a new lease of the 26 car parking spaces, shown on the area outlined on the plan at
Annexe 1
. Terms of the lease have been agreed and are set out at
(Exempt) Annexe 2
.
Recommendation
It is recommended that Waverley enters into a new lease of part of the Central Car Park in Farnham, as shown outlined on the attached plan, on the terms and conditions set out in the (Exempt) Annexe, and subject to other terms and conditions to be agreed by the Property and Development Manager.
