ACTION TAKEN SINCE THE LAST MEETING
(Agenda Item 5)
The Sub-Committee noted the actions taken by the Chief Executive in consultation with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman:
1. a hackney carriage/private hire licence be granted without the need to refer the application to the Licensing (General Purposes) Sub-Committee the reason being was that the applicant had been given a strong written warning and any further points on his driving licence within the next year would result in him being brought before the Licensing (General Purposes) Sub-Committee;
2. an exemption from the requirement to display the licence plate for the following private hire vehicles be granted in accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976:
i. a red Peugeot 607 registration MA52 YWE as a Private Hire Vehicle, licence plate no. 244, the licensee being Mr M Soul and the vehicle managed under the licence of Mr D Jones, licensed Private Hire Operator; and
ii. a black 2001 registered Mercedes E280 registration 210 RKR as a Private Hire Vehicle, licence plate no. 261, the licensee/private hire operator being Mr B Marshall.

APPLICATION FOR EXEMPTION FROM PRIVATE HIRE PLATE DISPLAY
(Appendix A)
RESOLVED an exemption from the requirement to display the licence plate for the following private hire vehicles be granted in accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976:
1. Mr A C Emery in respect of his Mercedes S320 CDi, Registration 00 419, Private Hire Plate no. 272; and
2. Mr A Hale in respect of his Mercedes E220, Registration RJ53 FVL, Private Hire Plate no. 293.

EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC
(Agenda Item 6)
RESOLVED that pursuant to Procedure Rule 20 and in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items on the grounds that it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during the items, there would be disclosure to them of exempt information (as defined by Section 100I of the Act) of the description specified in paragraph 1 of the revised Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act namely:-

PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER’S LICENCE
((Exempt) Appendix B)
Having interviewed the applicant and taken into account the officer’s report the Sub-Committee
RESOLVED that, due to the concerns of the Sub-Committee that the applicant had not given reasonable explanations for the incidents which led to his convictions and the serious nature of the convictions, the applicant was not considered to be a fit and proper person to hold a Waverley Borough Council private hire drivers licence and the application be refused.
The meeting commenced at 10.00 a.m. and concluded at 11.33 p.m.
