EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC

RESOLVED that pursuant to Procedure Rule 20 and in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items on the grounds that it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during the items, there would be disclosure to them of exempt information (as defined by Section 100I of the Act) of the description specified in paragraph 1 of the revised Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act namely:-

HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER’S LICENCE
((Exempt) Appendix A)
Having given consideration to the details set out in the report and interviewing the applicant the Sub-Committee
RESOLVED that, the applicant be regarded as a fit and proper person to be granted a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Driver’s Licence, subject to all other elements of the application being satisfactory, with the reminder that the Sub-Committee had a responsibility for the safety of the public in the Borough and any contravention of the rules of operating could result in the withdrawal of the applicant’s licence.

PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER AND OPERATOR
((Exempt) Appendix B)
Having given consideration to the details set out in the report and interviewing the applicant the Sub-Committee
RESOLVED that, paying due regard to the mitigating circumstances during the period of the offences, and the applicant’s exemplary record over the past 25 years, D G J be regarded as a fit and proper person to hold a Private Hire Driver and Operator Licence. However, the retention of the licences was subject to D G J undertaking a Waverley Borough Council Standard Medical Examination for Drivers with a Council-designated doctor, within a period of three months. D G J would be required to reappear before the Sub-Committee should he fail the medical examination.

POLICE INFORMATION RECEIVED ABOUT A LICENSEE

RESOLVED that the report be noted.
