The Minutes of the Meeting held on 13th February 2007 were confirmed and signed.

42. ACTION TAKEN SINCE LAST MEETING (Agenda Item 4)

The Sub-Committee noted the action taken by the Head of Paid Service in consultation with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman that, having regard to the advice of the Council’s consultant doctor in that instance, to refuse the application for a new Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Driver’s licence to the applicant without the need to refer the application to the Licensing (General Purposes) Sub-Committee.

44. HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER’S LICENCE
((Exempt) Appendix A)

Having given consideration to the details set out in the report and interviewing the licensee the Sub-Committee

RESOLVED that, due to the concerns of the Sub-Committee that the licensee had taken little regard of a previous warning by the officers of this Council, and the licensee’s casual attitude to the accumulation of points on his licence, a formal warning be given to Mr T K D and his licence be suspended for a period of four weeks with effect from the day after the meeting.

45. HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER’S LICENCE
((Exempt) Appendix B)
Having given consideration to the details set out in the report and interviewing the applicant the Sub-Committee

RESOLVED that, paying due regard to the guidance from the Department of Transport and Home Office, and the applicant’s explanations, statement of regret and good intentions for the future and taking into account the applicant’s previously long and untroubled driving record, Mr M S be considered a fit and proper person to be granted the licence applied for.

46. HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER’S LICENCE
((Exempt) Appendix C)

Having given consideration to the details set out in the report and interviewing the licensee the Sub-Committee

RESOLVED that, taking into account the licensee’s explanations and penalty from the Crown Court, Mr C G be allowed to keep his licence with the reminder that he has a duty to behave responsibly at all times.
