Broadband Facilities for Members



ANNEXE 1

BROADBAND FACILITIES FOR MEMBERS

Category 1 – Members without a Waverley telephone line for IT facilities

1. Waverley will no longer install new telephone lines for internet use.

2. If a member wants an internet connection then they must arrange it themselves with a broadband service operator. Well known operators include BT, Wanadoo, AOL etc.

3. The broadband operators provide a range of broadband options offering differing speeds and download limits. Members must select the one that is suitable for their personal needs. (The minimum entry-level service costing about 15.99 per month should be sufficient for Waverley Borough Council member purposes, but members may want to sign up for more expensive services where they pay the extra costs).

4. Whilst members must arrange the service themselves, Waverley IT staff will help install the facilities if requested.

5. Members signing up to broadband must arrange to pay the bill themselves in the first instance. (Refund procedures are dealt with below).

6. No reimbursement for other internet calls will be necessary as individual call charges are not made.

Category 2 – Members with a Waverley BC provided telephone line and low internet call costs. (i.e. Where the total costs are less than the equivalent annual broadband cost of 192 p.a.)

1. Waverley will monitor internet use to see if there is economic justification to terminate the Waverley provided line.

2. If a member wants an internet connection then they must arrange it themselves with a broadband service operator. Well known operators include BT, Wanadoo, AOL etc.

3. The broadband operators provide a range of broadband options offering differing speeds and download limits. Members must select the one that is suitable for their personal needs. (The minimum entry-level service costing about 15.99 per month should be sufficient for Waverley Borough Council member purposes, but members may want to sign up for more expensive services where they pay the extra costs).

4. Whilst members must arrange the service themselves, Waverley IT staff will help install the facilities if requested.

Category 3 - Members with a Waverley BC provided telephone line and high internet call costs. (i.e. Where the total costs are greater than the equivalent annual broadband cost of 192 p.a.)

1. Waverley staff will notify the member that the Waverley provided phone line will be cancelled from an agreed date. Waverley will meet any BT cancellation charges.

2. The Member arranges their own broadband service. Well known operators include BT, Wanadoo, AOL etc.

3. The broadband operators provide a range of broadband options offering differing speeds and download limits. Members must select the one that is suitable for their personal needs. (The minimum entry-level service costing about 15.99 per month should be sufficient for Waverley Borough Council member purposes, but members may want to sign up for more expensive services where they pay the extra costs).

Category 4 – Executive Members, Shadow Leader and Deputy and O&S Chairs

1. After the anniversary of the original broadband contract Waverley in agreement with the member will arrange for the contract to be terminated.

2. Members are required to arrange a broadband service in their own name. Other well known providers include Wanadoo, AOL etc.

3. The broadband providers provide a range of broadband options offering differing speeds and download limits. Members must select the one that is suitable for their personal needs. (The minimum entry-level service costing about 15.99 per month should be sufficient for Waverley Borough Council member purposes, but members may want to sign up for more expensive services where they pay the extra costs).

4. Whilst members must arrange the service themselves, Waverley IT staff will help install the facilities if requested.

1. Members must provide a copy of their broadband invoice at the start of the broadband contract and a copy one invoice at the beginning of each subsequent year.

2. The maximum amount refundable to each member will be 15.99 per month. If the broadband service costs less than 15.99 per month, the actual costs will be refunded.

3. If the members chooses a broadband service which costs more than 15.99 per month, the member will not be refunded for the excess.

4. The monthly refund charge will be reviewed each April to ensure it is still appropriate. Members will be notified each year of any changes.
