PART I – Reports containing recommendations for decision by the Council

A. DEVELOPMENT CONTROL CHARTER
[Wards Affected: All]

A.1 The current Development Control Charter was adopted by the Council in 1994. The Charter is due for review and this was one of the tasks identified in the Best Value Improvement Plan (DC17). Attached at Annexe 1 is a revised and updated Charter. The opportunity has been taken to reassess the performance targets identified and the section on enforcement has been expanded. It is proposed to produce a summary of the Charter, which will be aimed at different customer groups in a more user-friendly format.

A.2 In addition it is proposed to produce a Charter for the Policy Section, which will eventually be merged with the Development Control Charter to provide one base document for the Planning service.

A.3 Your Committee has given consideration to the Development Control Charter and accordingly

RECOMMENDS that

1. the Development Control Charter be adopted.
